A single thread of hope is still a very powerful thing.

This is the Tree of Hope at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Mesa, AZ.

A Thread of Hope

In November 2017 my sister and I ended up at this tree following her doctor’s appointment.

She tied a blue ribbon for her then recently diagnosed colon cancer.

I tied a pink ribbon for my decade ago diagnosed metastatic breast cancer.

We both tied a green and purple ribbon for our late dad’s lymphoma and bladder cancer.

That’s four different colored ribbons for three people in one immediate family.

That’s a pretty heavy statistic.

And that’s A LOT of ribbons on this tree.

But each ribbon on this tree offers HOPE.

A cancer diagnosis brings a feeling of hopelessness but these ribbons prove that there is a ray of hope.

Hope isn’t clean. It’s messy, like this tree, but without hope, what is there?

What do you hope for? I know my answer.

more about me

Lover of Peloton, brussel sprouts and prosecco (with a tiny splash of Pom), I ditched the stiletto heels and pencil skirts of corporate America for the business coach uniform of boyfriend jeans, wedges and cute t-shirts . One thing that remains constant is my love for flaunting my personality with bold statement jewelry pieces (and my penchant for always respectfully telling it like it is). I prefer coffee over tea, cake over pie and I rarely meet a bottle of wine I don't like. Are we destined to be besties? Hit the contact tab!

I'm Kristin, your new get-a-grip friend.
